CHIPOTLE IS FINALLY TAKING MEASURES WITH STAFF TO ADDRESS SMALLER PORTION SIZES

Some big changes could be coming to Chipotle in the near future, and we do mean that literally. After the fast casual restaurant was blasted online due to dwindling portion sizes, its chairman and CEO, Brian Niccol confirmed that "generous" portions are on the way.

Before addressing the upcoming adjustments, Niccol first clarified that the restaurant never intended to be skimpy with servings.

"There was never a directive to provide less to our customers. Generous portions is a core brand equity of Chipotle. It always has been, and it always will be,” he said during an investor call, USA Today reports.

To address the seemingly shrinking portions, Niccol revealed that Chipotle will focus on "training" and "coaching."

"Our guests expect this now more than ever, and we are committed to making this investment to reinforce that Chipotle stands for a generous amount of delicious (and) fresh food at fair prices for every customer every visit," he said.

As appetizing as this news sounds, some customers simply aren't having it. In a Reddit thread announcing the news, hundreds of people sounded off in the comments, expressing their skepticism. Some believe Chipotle won't actually implement changes while others think the restaurant might consider other tweaks to make portions appear bigger.

"Someone save their empty bowls and let’s compare the specs in a month or so," one person pointed out.

"They are gunna make the bowls smaller," another user added.

One person on Reddit questioned the restaurant's ability to properly train employees, writing "the only reason frontline training is so poor now is because they keep cutting labor so there's nobody in the restaurant actually free to do any training."

Do you think Chipotle's response to its portion sizes is too little too late?
