Bottomless anything tends to bring out something a little dangerous in people. Bottomless brunch, open bar, all-you-can-eat sushi—the second the limit disappears, so does everyone’s sense of restraint. The logic becomes: if it feels free, I must consume enough to make this emotionally worth it.
Buffalo Wild Wings’ bottomless apps promo returned in April and runs through June 10 at participating locations nationwide. On May 6, the chain posted a reminder on X letting people know that the deal costs $9.99 for your group, not per person.
Here’s a reminder of how itworks: The appetizers are served in pairs for a group of up to four people. If more people join in, each additional guest costs $2.99. The lineup includes unlimited rounds of mozzarella sticks, fried pickles, hatch queso, chips and salsa, and large onion rings. If your table wants to get a little fancier, you can also upgrade to cheese curds or chips and guacamole for an extra $3.
That said, the reaction to Buffalo Wild Wings’ tweet was not exactly enthusiastic. A lot of the responses immediately veered away from the deal itself and into complaints about service. One person said they had been burned enough times already, writing that after multiple bad experiences—including a nearly two-hour pickup wait and wrong items in the order—they were out. Another commenter warned, “You might as well announce to your staff that they won't be receiving tips while you're at it.”
Others took issue with how the deal plays out in practice. “It’s a great deal, but it’s hard to utilize it when your waiter refuses to come to your table for 30+ minutes at a time,” one person wrote, adding that this had happened even when they were the server’s only table. And one especially dramatic response invoked the ghosts of bottomless promotions past, basically asking whether no one had learned anything from Red Lobster and Ruth’s Chris.
If Buffalo Wild Wings wanted this to be a simple little PSA, the comments had other plans.
