Prolific Austin chef Ling Qi Wu is opening her fifth restaurant in the city this month. Ling Wu Asian Restaurant at the Grove will open at 2625 Perseverance Drive in the Rosedale neighborhood starting on Friday, July 26.
Ling Wu at the Grove focuses on Chinese and dim sum food taking cues from Wu’s experiences in Beijing, alongside East and Southeast Asian takes. Expect dishes familiar to those who have dined at Wu’s restaurants — lots of dumplings (the signature soup dumplings, shu mai with scallops/caviar and chicken/shiitake mushrooms, har gow, pan-fried, steamed, crispy, crawfish, etc. Then there are dishes like bao, duck pancakes, Sichuan peppercorn alligator, mei choy (steamed) pork belly, whole salt and pepper lobsters, hakka noodles, cheesy seafood udons and desserts.
Ling Wu at the the Grove will serve lunch and dinner with all-day dim sum items available during those times. Plus, expect weekend dim sum services too.
This is the final of Wu’s announced restaurants through the years. There’s her first, Clarksville Chinese restaurant Lin Asian Bar, in 2018 (remember when Martha Stewart visited?); her second, downtown modern Chinese restaurant Qi, in 2020; her third, Chinese tasting menu restaurant Ling Kitchen, in 2022; and her fourth, Chinese restaurant Ling Wu Asian Restaurant (not to be confused with this Ling Wu at the Grove) in southwest Austin development Lantana Place, in 2023. Before opening her own restaurants, she had been the opening dim sum chef of downtown modern Chinese restaurant Wu Chow in 2015.
For Ling Wu at the Grove, takeout orders can be placed online, there should be indoor and outdoor dine-in services. Reservations can be booked online; there are lunch seatings from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and dinner seatings form 4:30 to 8 p.m.
